Feeding Your Body and Soul
Accentuate the Positive
One of the most powerful ways to feel safe is to feed your soul. If you look on beauty, walk in nature, watch the clouds go by, cultivate joy and are kind to yourself, doing the things that give you pleasure, you’ll naturally feel bright inside and that light will protect you. If you’re fortunate enough to have the seasons to follow, you can chart the growth of snowdrops and primroses in the spring and the turn of the leaves in the autumn and watch out for the first snowflake. If you live by the sea, you can swim with dolphins, or on land you can be with dogs or horses. Simply looking at a beautiful view feeds your soul, but walking the hills or the forests takes you right in amid God’s creation. And if you energize your food with crystals your body, too, can be fed with spiritual nourishment.
TRY THIS: ENERGIZE YOUR FOOD
✵ Lay out four Quartz crystals with their points facing inwards around your plate before you eat, asking that the crystal energy infuse the food.
✵ Alternatively, use bright red or orange crystals or eat off a crystal plate (remember to cleanse it energetically first).
Counting Your Blessings
Counting your blessings has long been recognized as a way to increase them and to feed your soul. I have a friend who constantly says, ’I am blessed,’ and everything in the world falls into place for her. She has a beautiful home with a stunning view of the sea, exactly what she envisioned before moving on at a time when her life was at a low ebb, and she is thankful for her life every day. If she needs a place to stay while away, someone offers her their home; when she travels planes are never late and obstacles simply melt away under her positive focus. She feels truly blessed and affirms that every day.
Focusing on the positive, the things that work and the things that give you joy, and giving thanks for them, reinforces all you’re doing to feel safe and cope with change. Recording and rereading your successes is an excellent way to strengthen the cycle. You can either enter your blessings in a general journal or create a special blessings journal you write in each day. Choosing a special coloured pen with which you write only your blessings makes them extra special.
If you’re using a special blessings journal, make a title page: ’My Blessings’.
If you’re using a general journal, make a special entry each day under ’Daily Blessing’. Whenever you feel down, read your journal and remember how blessed you are.
The blessings journal helps you to identify the gift in any situation, no matter how bleak it may seem at the time. A relationship may have ended, for example, and then you may have found you actually liked living in solitude and taking the time to get to know and like yourself — this is a potent blessing. Peridot is an extremely useful stone for helping you to see the blessing in all things.
The ideal time to start counting your blessings is at the dark of the moon, just before the new moon makes itself known in the sky.
TRY THIS
✵ Write a list of all the things you feel thankful for or blessed by. Begin each sentence: ’I feel thankful for...’, ’I am happy that…’, ’I am grateful for…’ or ’I am blessed by…’, as this strengthens your positive emotions and feeling of being blessed each time you write.
✵ When you’ve run out of blessings, say thank you for all those blessings and feel the gratitude in your heart radiating out to bless all those with whom you came into contact.
✵ Now think about the negative situations in your life and focus on what you learned from them (hold a Peridot if you feel at all wary of or puzzled by this exercise). Write the gifts in your journal and say thank you for all those blessings and feel the gratitude in your heart radiating out to bless all those with whom you came into contact.
✵ Each night take a few moments to count the blessings of the day and to record them in your journal.
You can keep a large Spirit Quartz on or alongside your journal to multiply the blessings and radiate them out into your environment.

Being in the Present Moment
Since most things you worry about are in the future and positive experiences such as joy and serenity are in the present moment, staying in that present moment means you can put aside your worries and allow yourself to relax without having to do or even be anything. I think this is best expressed by Margaret Koolman:
Let there be nothing to be ’gained’ by doing what just came to your mind, just do it with all attention and focus.
Make what you are doing the most interesting thing, so that the tendrils of your thinking don’t distract you.
Make it the most sensuous thing, feeling with your fingertips and eyes, so that your body won’t distract you.
Put your heart into it, so that your emotions won’t distract you from this moment, this activity, this precious decision you have made.
For in this commitment you will meet your soul, and the activity will be done together, in sweet harmony and love.

One of the most potent ways of creating this ’sweet harmony and love’ is sitting with one of the deeply spiritual crystals and doing nothing other than quietly contemplating it until you become one with it in its slow and easy rhythm of life that only takes a breath every hundred years or so.
TRY THIS: BEING WITH A CRYSTAL
✵ Hold whichever of your crystals feels to you as though it holds the most light, most love and most serenity at this moment in time.
✵ Contemplate your crystal quietly. Be aware of its shape, its colour and how it fits into your hand. If it is transparent, gaze into it. If it is opaque, gently trace the colours and patterns on its surface.
✵ Allow yourself to blend with the stone, to take a long slow breath that lasts for a hundred years so it is always the perpetual now, there is no moving on to something, no coming from somewhere, only the eternal present moment that has been and is forever.
✵ When the time comes to turn your attention back to the world, bring that eternal present moment with you and tuck it inside your heart and mind. Simply be.
