Journeying is a form of visioning that takes you deep into yourself, into the shamanic underworld to meet power allies or into the celestial upper world to meet angels, your highest Self and guardian beings. It is assisted by music with an insistent beat, such as drumming, and with a distinctive ending, as this calls you back. It is best carried out lying down with your eyes closed in a quiet place where you won’t be disturbed. When you’re journeying it’s more important to feel the journey taking place rather than to have pictures of what is happening, although there can be graphic images present. In shamanic journeying a tunnel, cave or tree root is often used to reach the underworld or you may find yourself travelling through the stars. The Guardian Angel and Animal Allies tools use journeying, and other journeys are found throughout the book. The grounding root (see page 73) is a useful start and end to journeying.

Galaxy Quartz (Hematite in Quartz)

Having the strength and shielding power of Hematite (iron) bound up within it, Galaxy Quartz is superbly protective. As with all Quartz, it has the ability to generate, store and radiate energy as required and to amplify the properties of other crystals. It harmonizes the physical and subtle energy bodies, aligns the chakras and strengthens the biomagnetic field (the aura). The crystal detoxifies the environment and calls in guardian beings and mentors. Assisting concentration, it helps find simple solutions to new challenges and problems. It is an excellent journeying stone.

TRY THIS: A CRYSTAL JOURNEY

Hold a Shaman or other Phantom Quartz, Lodolite, Brandenberg, Preseli Bluestone, or any crystal that has distinct planes or inclusions within it.

With your eyes half closed, allow yourself to drift gently into the crystal and follow its inner planes and multi-dimensions. Let the crystal take you where it will.

When it’s time to return, withdraw your attention from the crystal, telling yourself firmly you’re returning to the present moment and the earth dimension and your physical body. Ground yourself by putting down your root deep into the Earth and standing up and stamping your feet.
