Choosing a new incarnation
Karmic Healing
In the days before I knew of pre-birth planning, I felt sympathy for others who appeared to be less fortunate than I, pitying a homeless person on the street, for example. Now aware that this seemingly ’bad’ experience may have been planned, I feel only deep respect.
Robert Schwartz, Courageous Souls
New incarnations are planned whilst in the between life state at what I call “the planning meeting”. At this meeting a lifeplan is prepared. Contacts, contracts and events are sketched out and a rough timing schedule mapped (see The Book of Why). From past life work with people over many years, it would appear that most souls have at least a modicum of choice, although some people do not progress far enough in the between life state to make an informed choice. They either simply ’bounce back’ into incarnation because of strong desires — for a substance, experience or person; or they are pulled back by ingrained patterns or old promises or vows that have not been rescinded. The major challenge for the present life may be to break the habits of lifetimes, or to release someone — or oneself — from an outdated promise or an ancestral engram passed down the family line. People who incarnate without planning or preparation go around and around on the wheel of karma.
On the other hand, someone who may appear to be ’fated’, because of trauma or dis-ease, may have made that choice deliberately. Choices that are, at first glance, surprising may have been made for soul growth to learn specific qualities. Illness or traumatic life situations may have been prepared most carefully for the incarnation, and the soul may have a profound reason for making that choice. It may be for personal growth and learning, or to facilitate other people in their lessons or intentions.
The Lifeplan
The lifeplan is not rigid. It is an outline rather than a line by line account of how the life will go. It is adaptable but has structure. The soul chooses a family situation that will reiterate attitudes, experiences or lessons from the past which the soul wants to confront or heal. The life plan will have ’key moments’ mapped in so that karmic meetings or fateful decisions occur. It may also incorporate a point when previous life memories will become conscious once more to aid the soul in its evolution.
Or both. For example, someone speaking on the radio the other day said that her autistic son was teaching her patience and tolerance. Before she’d had him, she had, in her own words, been an extremely impatient, intolerant person. But, because her son appeared, to the outside world, to ’act normally’ most of the time, and had no outward sign of disability, not only did she have to be patient herself with him, but had also had to negotiate with the people around him when his autism unexpectedly kicked in.
True or not true?
People ask, “Are past lives true?” But this is not the right question. Whether or not a life is actually, factually true, it will be symbolic of your soul story. Knowing the detail of your past lives can be useful as it pinpoints patterns, root causes, unfinished business, blockages, soul purpose and so on. What a past life seeing, accessing far memory or reading the Akashic Record does is to give you an overview, a picture of your soul history and that of the ancestors. What you need to ask is, “Is this true for me? Does this give me insight into myself and my family line?” However, at the end of the day, crystals can bypass the need to know and help you to simply heal.
