Purification
The Witch’s Garden of Herbal Magick

Purification has long been a staple in my family. We purify everything from new objects brought into the home to anyone needing a clearing of bad energy or curse. Purification clears and removes unwanted energy and brings in positive and peaceful energies.

It’s important to purify your tools, altars, sacred spaces, and, of course, yourself, from time to time. Since I practice Magickal workings daily and work as a healer, I make sure to purify myself every day.

I’ve included my go-to methods in the following pages. They’re just lovely and work beautifully.

Image Basil purification spray

Basil is a giant in Magick, and has many different uses. This simple spray can be used to purify and spiritually cleanse sacred objects, spaces, altars, and any other part of the home that you feel needs ridding of stagnant energy. The scent alone is uplifting and Magickal, and this spray is sure to become one of your favorite ways to use the power of basil.

What you need

16fl oz (450ml) water

1 lemon, cut in half

A small handful of basil leaves

1 tablespoon thyme

An empty spray bottle

What to do

✵ Bring the water to the boil in a saucepan, add the lemon halves, basil, and thyme, then simmer for 10 minutes.

✵ Leave to cool, then strain to remove the herbs and lemon. Pour into a spray bottle and it’s ready to use.

✵ Grind the thyme, rosemary, and sage together as finely as possible.

✵ Now stir in the star anise powder and the essential oils, and put the mixture in the jar.
