Christa Mackinnon is a psychologist, family counsellor, clinical hypnotherapist and shamanic practitioner and teacher. She worked internationally for many years as a trauma specialist, therapist, trainer and university lecturer and also spent 10 years as the course director of a large international hypnotherapy training institute.

Her interest in ancient psycho-spiritual traditions and the power of non-ordinary states of consciousness started early in life, mainly influenced by her travels, the writings of C.G. Jung and Carlos Castaneda and her own profound and life-changing spiritual experiences. This led her to learn from and work with Buddhist teachers in Asia, indigenous teachers in the Americas and contemporary shamanic teachers in Europe and the USA.

She has pushed the boundaries of contemporary therapy and psychology by integrating shamanic approaches into her work and is the author of the acclaimed book Shamanism and Spirituality in Therapeutic Practice. She writes extensively about the subject in various magazines, speaks at conferences and runs international psycho-spiritual shamanic training courses for therapeutic professionals.

Her renowned workshops and courses for laypeople focus on the various strands of shamanism and mainly take place in Devon, UK, where she now lives with her family.
