Having harvested the branch(es) that you require, it is essential that you begin the refinement process as soon as possible on the day or night of the harvest. The harvested branch should be kept in its looped configuration until you are ready to begin working with it. Hang it in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight, and the tree’s energies and attributes will remain their most potent.

We now have our harvested branch stored safely in our workshop, ready to begin its refinement. The next section looks in detail at that refinement process in anticipation of using the refined complexes and incenses in the rituals described in the final section.
