A Cautionary Note

A Druid's Handbook to the Spiritual Power of Plants: Spagyrics in Magical and Sexual Rituals - Jon G. Hughes 2014

A Cautionary Note

The contents of Celtic plant magic are based on practical experience and traditional Celtic plant lore. The foundation of both of these elements is the ability to confidently identify the plants to be used and a thorough understanding of the properties and potential effects of the plants that are being employed.

In the days of the ancient Druids there were no alternatives to these magical treatments, but nowadays the situation is reversed and Celtic plant magic is the “alternative” or complementary therapy to mainstream scientific medicine.

Scientific advances have given us a much deeper knowledge of the causes of many of the illnesses that impinge upon our everyday lives. By understanding the cause, science has, in many cases, enabled us to develop a cure. This does not conflict with the theory of Druidic plant lore because, as you will see as you read this book, the Druids readily assimilated any new knowledge into their practices and would have welcomed modern science with open arms.

Druidic plant lore, however, is based upon a much simpler understanding of the cosmos and the people who inhabit it, an understanding that has both scientific and spiritual aspects in an equal balance.

In reading this book you may decide to use some of the treatments on yourself or others, but please do not do so without first consulting your physician and asking his or her guidance. Never attempt to diagnose or treat illnesses without first seeking medical advice.
