Talismans
20th-Century Runes

Like the sigils created from city maps, the symbols of your new rune set can be used for magical intentions. The first step is to determine your intention. What is the desired goal or outcome of the spell? Once you determine that, you can choose your symbols appropriately Talismans are then created by combining the symbols, either in a straight line, as if you were stringing letters together to form a magical word, or as a unified, new magical symbol.

To make a talisman to aid you in finding and purchasing a car, you can combine the car symbol with the dollar sign symbol and end with the arrow. The three together indicate the desire to have a car, purchase it, and then travel (see figure 22 top left, page 214). If you need more money, but feel your previous intentions for prosperity lacked power, combine the atomic symbol with the dollar sign. This will create a talisman of power (see figure 22 bottom left, page 214). For another home protection charm, creatively combine the key, prohibited, stop, and brick wall runes for a defensive perimeter (see figure 22 right). Depending on what you use to protect your home, you may also include the gun symbol, but I would not suggest it.

Once designed, the talisman can then be created, much as the runes above were created. Choose a medium you favor and create the individual charm, maintaining focus on your desired goal. Consecrate the talisman in a magick circle, as if you were doing any other spell or sigil. The talisman can be kept on the altar, buried, or carried with you.
