The Magic of Trees: A Guide to Their Sacred Wisdom & Metaphysical Properties - Tess Whitehurst 2017
Fringetree
The Trees
This native to the southeastern United States owes his name to his most delicate, wispy, and otherworldly white flowers. Resembling clouds from a distance and feathers or fringe up close, the spring blooms of the fringetree (Chionanthus) give one the sense that one is safe and all is well.
Magical Uses
Divine Protection
This tree may be physically little, but his consciousness is vast. Simply gazing at (or even just visualizing) a fringetree—particularly one in bloom—reminds us that we are never alone, and that we have friends in high places. That’s why fringetree is an excellent magical ally to invoke for protection and safety, particularly when we are navigating through uneasiness and anxiety.
FRINGETREE PROTECTION RITUAL
Place a framed picture of a blossoming fringetree on your altar and light a white pillar candle and a stick of frankincense incense. Breathe deeply and imagine yourself in the presence of the tree. When this visualization feels strong, allow yourself to receive an energetic infusion of divine protection and let your consciousness shift to the awareness that you are safe and all is well. Alternatively, if you know of a fringetree in bloom nearby, visit and offer him a small clear quartz and a libation of blessed water. Then request his assistance and receive the infusion as above.
Harmony and Ease
The more aligned we are with the Divine, the more harmonious we feel and the more things seem to flow easily and effortlessly for us. This is the wisdom of the fringetree, who—if we choose to allow this—distinctly bestows the sense that we are already experiencing heaven on earth. So, if your life seems to be beset by struggles and hassles, visit or visualize a fringetree, incorporate him into your magic, or take the flower essence.
Interestingly, this soothing and smoothing action of the fringetree is mirrored in the physical realm in the way that his roots and bark were once employed by Native Americans to treat congestion and skin infections.
Prosperity
“Prosperity is your natural state,” says the fringetree. “Remember this, and all the riches and blessings you desire are already yours.” For prosperity magic that is equal parts pleasant and powerful, visit a fringetree in spring or summer. Spread a blanket beneath him and recline, gazing at his beauty and allowing him to shower you with his wisdom. Feel every cell and atom of your mind, body, and energy field shifting into resonance with true divine prosperity.
