Be Lucky on Friday the 13th Spread

On This Day

Hotels, hospitals, and many high-rises omit marking thirteenth floors, and airports often omit the thirteenth gate.

The earliest known documented reference to the bad luck surrounding Friday the 13th came on this day in 1868. The biography of Italian composer Gioachino Rossini states “like so many Italians, he regarded Fridays as an unlucky day and thirteen as an unlucky number; it is remarkable one Friday the 13th of November he died.” Friday the 13th is steeped in mystery and unease.

Summation of Spread

The Death card is the thirteenth card in the tarot deck. It reveals massive change, upheaval, and a turning point toward a new reality. Death bares all but the essential, leaving freedom in its wake. Often represented with a scythe, due to the idea of his harvesting of souls, the skeleton is the structure of our bodies, the essence of our physicality.
