Judgement Card Spread

Joseph Smith was paid as a scryer, using his “seer stones” to locate lost items and treasure. Promoting the practice of polygamy, he took part in a long line of historical abuses, using religious dogma to subjugate, control, and repress women.

Joseph Smith, inventor of Mormonism and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, stated that on this day in 1823 an angel directed him to a box of golden plates in the woods near his home in upstate NY, where he translated them using a “seer stone.” He placed the stone at the bottom of a hat, covered his face, and read the stone. The result was the Book of Mormon, the religious text of the Mormon religion.
