ZZ, also known as Zanzibar gem and eternity plant, is a wonderful houseplant as it can tolerate low light and requires infrequent watering. It’s a charming plant, with tall, woody stems studded with oval leaves. Like many other houseplants it contains oxalate crystals, so use caution with pets.

MEDICINAL PROPERTIES

Several Indigenous peoples, particularly in Africa, work with ZZ plant to relieve stomach aches. The juice from the leaves can soothe an earache, and a poultice made from the plant can serve as an anti-inflammatory.

MAGICAL PROPERTIES

ZZ plant grows in a steady fashion, and can bring to light the areas in your life that deserve to grow in the same way—with patience and steadiness. I work with her each and every time I study a new plant, read a new book, or take classes online, as she supports me in my growth and learning. I also love to keep her by me when I meditate with other plants, as she helps me absorb their messages. Placing a ZZ plant in your office, workplace, or in a classroom will help those around her be more productive and alert.
