Tea tree, or melaleuca, has been used as an herbal medicine by Indigenous peoples for thousands of years. She is a small tree or shrub in the myrtle family. The oil made from her leaves is herby and camphorous in scent.

MEDICINAL PROPERTIES

Tea tree is used topically to treat a variety of skin conditions, including bacterial and fungal infections, dandruff, and acne. She is also an effective insect repellent, and can be sprayed into your child’s hair during the inevitable lice infestations at school. Tea tree oil should not be taken internally, as it can cause drowsiness, nausea, and even hallucinations in sufficient quantities. Tea tree oil has been used since the 1920s, but gained in popularity in the late 1980s and early 1990s, and remains useful to this day.

Tea Tree Resetting Footbath

Tea tree can guide you back to your center with this footbath, allowing you to find whatever has been blocking you.

WHAT YOU NEED

Large bowl

2 to 3 drops tea tree oil

1 to 2 drops witch hazel oil or 2 tablespoons dried witch hazel

1 bunch of abre camino

1 orange, sliced

2 acorns

3 pine cones

Black candle

WHAT TO DO

· Bring a big pot of water to a boil. Once it is hot, but not uncomfortably so, pour the water into a bowl large enough to hold your feet.

· Add all the ingredients. Light your black candle, setting your intentions for resetting and unblocking.

· Sit quietly with your feet in the bath for at least 10 minutes, allowing tea tree to guide you as you meditate.

MAGICAL PROPERTIES

Diffuse tea tree essential oil during any Magical workings on clearing blockages, or while you meditate to discover what has been blocking you. Anoint any amplification talismans, crystals, Magical tools, or jewelry with tea tree oil to add to their power. You can also add it to a bath, particularly a footbath, to soak in and reset.

Tea tree is known as the “oil of the angels” for good reason—she can help you connect to those spirits who are there for you in the darkest of times. Tea tree can also give you strength and protection when you need it. But I want to focus on her unblocking ability—she can help you overcome whatever obstacles you are facing, allowing you to access more power and tune in to your higher self. In dreams, tea tree often appears in winged form, either as a bird or an angel, but you will know it’s her by her scent. She has likely come to give you a message about your health.
