This cheerful flower is so perfect hanging in baskets on a porch. Geraniums are easy to grow and some varieties have a fruity, generous scent. The leaves and petals are both edible, and varieties with a rose-like scent are valued for their uses in perfumes.

MEDICINAL PROPERTIES

Infusions made with geraniums can heal kidney concerns, lower a fever, and ease the discomfort of irritable bowel syndrome. A balm made with geranium can be applied externally to help draw out an infection, and her essential oil can be a powerful mood-booster.

MAGICAL PROPERTIES

Geraniums invite happiness and prosperity simply with their presence; place her outside your front door to bring these energies into your home. She also screeches at the sight of dark energy, and so is great to pair with rosemary, who will act on her warning and banish those dark energies. When combined with chamomile in a bath, you become instantly more aware of your body in a deeper sense, and you can feel where your body needs extra care and attention. If you’re sick or unwell but you don’t know where it’s coming from, this is an excellent diagnostic tool. Geranium is also helpful for sympathetic Magic—so if you wish good things for someone else, you can use geranium to send your intentions outward. This works particularly well when your intention is to protect the Earth and all her children.
