The Spaniel Specter
Hounds and Hauntings

Usually when a psychic is called in to “clean” a place it is because the people who live there don’t like the spirit and it’s causing problems. I was asked about three weeks ago to help someone with a problem in their home. They were worried about their daughter; she had been hearing things, feeling cold spots in the apartment, and seeing shadows and other things.
When I arrived, I knocked on the door and was welcomed in by the gentleman of the house; his wife was in the kitchen. As I walked toward the kitchen I felt something touch my forearm. I carried on in and asked, “Do you want me to tell you if there is a spirit here or if you’re going round the twist?” (I know, very “professional.” But some people feel they are going mad, so if a medium confirms there is spirit there, they are happy.) I sat in the kitchen and looked to the hallway. I could see shadows moving about but just watched. I was also drawn to the door at the bottom of the hall, where I felt knocking and banging had been heard.
I asked them if I could go to that room at the bottom of the hall and they said, “Yes. My daughter’s room is down there, too.” I walked down to this room but could not feel anything, so I turned around to walk into their daughter’s room. On this particular night I had a camera with me, and as I walked into her room, something jumped up at me and knocked the camera out of my hand. It flew across the room and landed on the floor. I thought to myself, Great I have broken that camera now. I looked around the room to see or feel if there was anything in there. Right at the bottom of the bed was a dog, or rather the back of a dog. As I looked at its coat, which was shining, everything seemed to connect with the goings on of this house.
I walked back into the kitchen and by now the daughter had arrived home. She was young, only about sixteen or seventeen. I said, “Hi, are you okay?” I could see she had fear in her eyes. I don’t know if it was fear of the ghost or me.
I asked if they ever had a dog that was a King Charles spaniel with cream and red or brown fur, and they said yes. I then asked if they had heard scratching on the doors and had seen shadows in the bedroom, and again their reply was yes. “Well, let me tell you, it’s your dog that is here,” I said. “Also there are a couple of your family members here at the moment to speak to you.”
After I gave the messages, I walked back into the room and cleansed it and lifted the energies and advised the family what to do with the room after I left. I also told them about the dog meeting me at the door and jumping up at me and knocking my camera out of my hands. The owners said that these were the habits of this particular dog. They said they could not go anywhere without her following or jumping on them.
About five days later I received an e-mail from the lady, who said, “Thank you for putting our minds at rest. But one question: How do you keep a spirit dog off your bed when you don’t want dog hairs on your sheets?”
I said, “That’s one for a vet to answer.”
