Phantom Felines And Other Ghostly Animals - Gerina Dunwich 2006
Yellow Kitty
Phantom Felines
by Tonya Brooks
I have always been close to animals and feel I have a special way of communicating with them. I have also experienced my “babies” coming back after death to let me know they are all right.
Nine years ago my boyfriend Paul and I started rescuing animals. Our first rescue was a big yellow tomcat that we named Yellow Kitty. It took us five months to build a bond with him because he was hurt. I suspected his injuries were inflicted by humans, but I did not know for sure.
We captured him one day to get him to the vet because the wounds were becoming infected. We found out that he had feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV), but we didn’t give up on him. We took him back to our house and he became such a loving cat. You could hear him purr from across the room.
He became very ill one night and we rushed him to the vet, but there was nothing that could be done for him. He was too dehydrated and in pain, so we had to have him put to sleep. He died in my arms, looking into my eyes as I told him that I loved him. We then took him home and buried him.
Within a couple of days I had my first encounter with his spirit, and so did Paul. I was sleeping on the couch and awoke to the feeling of a cat kneading my stomach. There was no cat there, at least not physically. I started to tell Paul about it the next day but he beat me to it and told me he had the same experience.
I believe Yellow Kitty was letting us know that he was all right and still with us, that he loved us and was grateful for the love that we had given to him.
Unfortunately, through the years many of the animals that we rescued died, but the experiences live on. My angels (as I call them) have touched my heart and my spirit. I still feel their presence with me; they like to jump into bed with me every now and then. Tipper, my cat, sleeps with me every night and gets upset when they decide to visit.
