Phantom Felines And Other Ghostly Animals - Gerina Dunwich 2006
The White Cat Apparition
Phantom Felines
by Linda J. Adams
I have always believed in human spirits but never realized the possibility of animal hauntings until recently. My ninety-year-old house in Collingswood, New Jersey, is haunted by both humans and animals.
The first incident involving a “phantom feline” happened in the early months of 2002. My girlfriend Angie was visiting for the evening. It was around 10 p.m. when she became startled and announced, “Oh, my God, I just saw a white cat run through your living room!” She said that it suddenly appeared and then just as suddenly disappeared. No noise, just a vision. I myself did not see this cat, as I was in the dining room, but I surely took her word for it, especially because of the intense level of ghostly activity otherwise in the house. I did look around after her sighting, but to no avail.
The second incident occurred in October of 2005. I was alone (except for my young son sleeping upstairs in his bed, and our cat, which is brown and black striped, sleeping upstairs in “her” room) and had fallen asleep in the living room while watching TV. I awoke around 3 a.m. and sat up on my couch. I suddenly saw some movement out of the corner of my eye. I looked down and saw what appeared to be an animal of some sort, about the size of a cat and all white, but all I could see was its back. (I initially assumed it was a cat, except the fur was very coarse like that of a guinea pig or a rat, but it appeared too large to be either of those species.) It made its appearance on the floor, along the bottom of the couch, then disappeared underneath the couch.
I froze for a minute or two, not daring to look further. I finally mustered up the courage to look, then peered under the couch, only to find nothing. I slowly stood up from the couch, walked to the enclosed front porch that borders the living room, peeked around the corner, but again, saw nothing more. This little creature went as quickly and as suddenly as it came.
One can try to convince oneself, and others can try to convince you, that perhaps what you’ve seen was just your imagination, and possibly just a dream. This was no dream. I know what I saw was real because there have been too many other unexplained paranormal activities in this house and in other homes and elsewhere in my lifetime that I, as well as others, have experienced. (I may just write my own book one of these days!)
