Planetary Energies of The Hours
Additional Components for Lunar Magic

You can also work with the planetary energy for the hour of day or night that best aligns with your work. The following charts show the hours from sunrise to sunset and from sunset to sunrise. The day is divided into two sets of twelve-hour blocks of day and night, and to adjust for actual daylight and nighttime hours, the minutes of each hour are changed to fit into twelve settings for day and for night based on the time of sunrise and sunset on any particular day.

To calculate the length of the hours, change the sunrise and sunset time to military time (a twenty-four-hour clock), convert these into minutes, subtract sunrise from sunset to get the total daytime minutes, and divide by twelve for the length of each hour. For the length of nighttime hours, subtract the total daytime minutes of the prior calculation from 144,000 (2400 hours X 60 minutes), divide the remainder by twelve and you have the number of minutes in the sunset hours.

The Planetary Energies list and the Days of the Week list are used to help determine which planetary hour you want to work within. If you want success in a legal matter, for example, you could perform your magical work on a Sunday during one of the Jupiter hours, or on a Thursday during a Jupiter or a Sun hour.
