Primrose - The Flowers

The Magic of Flowers: A Guide to Their Metaphysical Uses & Properties - Tess Whitehurst 2013

Primrose
The Flowers

During challenging times, primrose is a compassionate spirit and a sympathetic ear. A veritable saint of the garden, he helps heal our emotional pain and transmute our suffering into joy.

Magical Uses

Admitting Feelings

If we don’t acknowledge our feelings, we’re paralyzed when it comes to healing them and moving on. Primrose can help us admit our feelings to ourselves so that we can move through them (rather than trying to go around them or above them) and eventually let them go. He does this by quietly setting the example of connecting with the earth, surrendering fully to the life experience, and holding the space for our feelings to emerge.

If you’re not sure how you feel about something, or if you know you have pent-up grief, sadness, loneliness, or anger that you’re ready to discover and deal with, visit some live blossoming primroses or bring some into your garden and spend some quality time with them. As you gaze at the blossoms, take some deep breaths, allow your thoughts to be soft and still, become aware of the area around your heart, and allow the primrose energy to do its thing. You may not consciously be aware of anything happening at first, but that’s not the point. The point is that you simply let go and allow primrose to shift your inner landscape so that your feelings can more easily come to the surface. This may happen immediately, or you might feel the effects in the coming days and weeks.

Healing Grief and Heartache

By simply holding the space for our grief to be fully expressed, primrose helps us transmute our pain and suffering into wisdom and joy. That’s why it’s a good idea to spend time in quiet contemplation with primrose when you’re experiencing grief or heartache. Working with the flower essence can also be helpful.

Hope Amidst Despair

Traditionally, it’s said that primrose has the magical ability to protect from madness. I believe this ability comes from primrose’s knack for shining the bright light of hope into the dreary cavern of despair. So if you’re looking for the strength to carry on, try taking the essence or spending time with the blossom.

Relationship Healing

If you feel that your relationship could benefit from increased honesty, better communication, and a freer flow of emotions, primrose can help. Bring primrose into your garden, bring a bouquet of primrose flowers into your home, or put primrose essence in your and your partner’s food. You might also surround a picture of you and your partner in primrose blossoms on the day or evening of a full moon and burn a red candle next to it.

Transforming Karma

If you feel that you’re holding on to old, unwelcome karmic patterns of any kind, you might like to employ the transforming magic of primrose. Primrose can help you release and heal past-life traumas or childhood issues so that you can move forward victoriously and be free.

KARMA-TRANSFORMING BATH

Light a white or off-white soy candle and draw a warm or hot bath. Dissolve one cup sea salt, one cup Epsom salts, and one-half cup baking soda into the water, and add forty drops primrose essence. Remove your clothes and hold your hands over the water, palms down. Visualize very bright white light coming down from above, entering the crown of your head, going down to your heart, down your arms, out through your hands, and into the water. Visualize the water filling and overflowing with this light, radiating out in all directions like a smaller version of the sun. Then say:

Great Goddess, I call on you.

Archangel Zadkiel, I call on you.

Please fill this water with vibrations of healing and purification.

Please release, remove, and transform old, unhelpful karma

so that I may move forward and be free.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Blessed be! And so it is.

Soak for at least forty minutes.
