Creating Your Own Spells
Tools of the Trade

First decide what your intent is. What do you wish your magick to accomplish? Write it down. Language is a good key for materializing intent. Even if your ritual is not spoken, the very act of writing it down makes the exact intent clearer in your mind. Then decide what you need. If it is more of an inner transformation, perhaps a journey to the sky city or hidden city is appropriate. If you need a more physical manifestation, a magical ritual may be right for you. You can design your own, or perhaps ask a god or guide to help you in making the spell that is correct for you at this time. Simply asking for guidance can bring your intuition to uncover the right techniques.

Choose the tools you want. Start by asking yourself some questions. Will the ritual be all in your mind, working strictly with energy, visualization, and intent, or will you use physical tools? What tools will you use? Do any magick words, stones, or plants apply to your intent? Is this a long-term spell to be held in a charm, or a quick burst of magick for a specific, one-time intent? Will you cast a magick circle, or perform a free-form ritual? Look at the examples above. Do they spark any ideas? Once you have these answers, you will have a clearer direction to follow. Just remember to get energy, either your own personal energy or from other helpers and tools, program at energy, and release it to do its work.
